Ellen Silvers is a financial advisor and insurance specialist. She focuses her practice on educating and empowering her clients to achieve their monetary goals. With an AB cum laude from Brown University in Women, Law and Society, and an MA from the University of Santa Monica in Counseling, Ellen is uniquely suited to guide women through the divorce process. While at Brown, Ellen was a guest columnist for the Brown Daily Herald and published The Carberry Guide to the Gentle Art of Program Planning.
Ellen was Director of Marketing for Self-Esteem Seminars, Jack Canfield’s company prior to his writing the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. There she learned about the human potential movement via its many seminars, developed curriculum, and became a trainer. A former teacher, theater producer/director and choir conductor, Ellen likes to spend her time walking her Doodles, baking challah, singing, and stewarding her Little Free Library. She enthusiastically participates in the Pitch to Published author online support community, and the weekly Platt Writer’s Group.
Ellen is an unapologetic feminist, liberal and Jew, and the proud mother of three spectacular humans. If you want to start a conversation, ask her what three books she is reading. With trophies in speech and debate, however, argue with her at your peril.
Divorce is a swamp that sucks in half of all married couples. Statistically, divorced women with children fare far worse economically than their exes.
Take the Dog, Leave the House: The Big Sister's Guide to Divorce focuses on both the practical and emotional sides of ending a marriage. Ellen Silvers provides guidance through the psychological, financial, and legal tangles.
A mom of three with a background in both financial advising and the human potential movement, Ellen Silvers is the right person to shepherd the reader from the decision to separate through the post-divorce reconstruction of personal identity, finances, and family life.
Drawing from her own, colossally difficult divorce as well as anecdotes and statistics, Silvers guides women considering or in the midst of divorce with clarity and humor.
